Emma Sabourin
Registered Social Worker (RSW) Psychotherapist MA, RSW, CC-PMH, CC-BRT, CC-PGL
Hi! I’m Emma (she/her). I am so glad you are here. I feel privileged to be a part of the team at Refine and believe wholeheartedly in a multidisciplinary approach to health and wellness.
I am a registered social worker providing counselling and psychotherapy services with twenty years of experience supporting adults, children and families. I offer an inclusive, affirming, collaborative, compassionate and strength-based space for people of all identities and experiences.
My specializations include trauma therapy and perinatal mental health (fertility, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, adoption, parenting, grief and loss).
The main therapeutic modalities that I draw upon are narrative therapy and mindfulness.
I am a settler on the traditional territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabeg. My practice is grounded in an anti-oppressive framework that is informed by anti-racism, decolonization theory, feminism, queer theory and disability justice.
I am constantly learning (and unlearning), committed to ongoing personal and professional growth, and participate in my own therapy, professional development and clinical supervision.
I am a parent to three pretty great kids who challenge and inspire me every single day
Quick facts
I hold a Masters degree from the University of Ottawa, and am a registered social worker (RSW) with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).

I am a Canadian-certified perinatal mental health (CC-PMH) and birth and reproductive trauma (CC-BRT) professional.
